Mark Hughes has confirmed Blackburn will enter the Intertoto Cup if they do not qualify for Europe automatically - but he is still hoping Rovers will put together a run of form to qualify outright for the UEFA Cup for the second successive year.
Blackburn are aiming to make up ground in the Barclays Premiership table, starting with the home game against Portsmouth on Sunday - and Hughes is already eyeing the Intertoto Cup as a fail safe.
"Most clubs are looking at the competition as a decent option," said the Blackburn boss. "They changed the format this season and it is a more attractive proposition. More and more clubs will see the Intertoto as a way into Europe."
