Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell believes the recent link with David Beckham proves how attractive the club has become.
Hoops manager Gordon Strachan last week laughed off the possibility of the Real Madrid and England midfielder moving to Glasgow, but representatives for the 31-year-old have not dismissed the link, although the player may make North America his next destination. However, even the mere mention of Beckham and Celtic in the same sentence is enough to convince the Celtic Park chief that the club is moving in the right direction.
Lawwell told the Sunday Mail: "It is believable but there has been no direct contact between David Beckham's people and ourselves. However, it shows the direction the club is going in. It shows Celtic are an attractive proposition to the best players. Beckham will know about Celtic and what it is like here."
