Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has compared international managers to joy-riders over what he sees as their reckless handling of players.
The Frenchman's squad is packed with internationals and he has now voiced his displeasure at constantly seeing his players return tired, injured or both following national team duty. He believes national team coaches do not show their club counterparts enough respect, with the exception of former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Wenger, echoing similar views aired by Lyon coach Gerard Houllier, told the Daily Express: "(Gerard) thinks that what the national coaches are doing is like taking a car from his garage without even asking permission. They will then use the car for 10 days and abandon it in a field without any petrol left in the tank. We then have to recover it, but it is broken down."
