Steve Staunton and his alias President of the FAI John Delaney, must resign with immediate effect. The performance against Cyprus was the worst defeat by any Irish side. Indeed the opposition was ranked sixty places below the Irish. As every game passes under the tenure of Staunton, the Republic of Ireland drop places in the world rankings. At present Ireland are ranked in there worst position in over two decades but consequently this position will drop further after last nights humiliating loss. Following the game Staunton praised some of his players and went on to say that his side were unlucky. However the reality is somewhat different Ireland were lucky to concede just five goals as Cyprus missed some ea sy chances.

Questions need to be answered now Mr. Staunton, Why was Carsley not called into the squad? Why did you play Andy O'Brien? a player who has yet to start a game this season for his club. Where was the midfield during the game? To make a point to Staunton, Cork City defeated Nicosia from Cyprus in the Champions League and defeated them with ease. Yet the Irish national side struggled against these same players last night. Your time is up Steve Staunton. Resign now.
