Teddy Sheringham has revealed he came close to quitting West Ham earlier this season.
The 40-year-old considered an offer from Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill after growing frustrated by his lack of opportunities at Upton Park. Sheringham started only once as West Ham slumped to eight successive defeats and on three occasions this season he was not even in the match squad.
"When I am not involved in the 16 I sometimes wonder if I should move on. Aston Villa came in for me earlier in the season and I thought 'that would do for me'," said Sheringham. "I sometimes wonder why I am putting myself through all of this and then get disappointed in not being involved."
