Manager Bryan Robson has parted company with championship club West Bromwich Albion 'by mutual consent.'
49-year-old Robson, who previously managed Middlesborough, took over from Gary Megson in November 2004 and proceeded to do what no previous Premiership managaer had done - keep West Brom up, even though they were bottom of the Premiership at Christmas.
The luck, however, did not last and West Brom were relegated to the Championship last season. The team are now languishing in ninth having won three of their matches, lost two and drawn three this season.
Albion chairman Jeremy Peace said: "In view of the results since early 2006, it's been decided a change is necessary if the club is to achieve its aims.
"This is a very important time for the club with promotion a priority and the best way forward is to make a change."
Robson's last game in charge was a dissappointing 1-1 draw against Southend at home.
