Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has revealed his satisfaction after fending off Liverpool's interest in defender Lucas Neill.
According to Hughes, Liverpool were eager to snap up the Australian and were persistent in attempting to prise him away from Ewood Park. The exit of Jan Kromkamp to PSV Eindhoven appeared to suggest Liverpool were chasing Neill, but Rovers kept the 28-year-old.
"A lot of Thursday was concentrated on actually resisting the overtures from Liverpool," Hughes told Blackburn's website, www.rovers.co.uk. "In the end I think we showed to Lucas that possibly we were more committed to him than Liverpool were prepared to commit and I think he understood that in the end."
