Coleman reveals Spurs' Boa Morte bid

17 september 2006, 13:30

Fulham boss Chris Coleman has confirmed Tottenham attempted to sign striker Luis Boa Morte in the summer but could not meet their valuation of the Portuguese star.

Spurs, who have since clinched the signing of French midfielder Steed Malbranque from the Cottagers, had wanted Boa Morte as well but Coleman revealed their offer was nowhere near high enough.

Coleman said: "He came back from the World Cup and there was all the hoo-hah about whether he was leaving us. He is always being linked with a move away from this club but he was about 5million away from joining Spurs."
