England skipper John Terry has pleaded for patience as Steve McClaren sets about the task of shedding his side's label as under-achievers.
However, with McClaren still emerging from Sven-Goran Eriksson's shadow, the 25-year-old defender believes he has to be given time to assess the players he has at his disposal, even if that means the kind of wholesale substitutions which characterised the Swede's reign.
"Friendlies are important. Maybe we will still do that (make many substitutions), I don't know," said Terry. "When we come away, it is important that we get formations, we get to know what each player is about."
