Coca-Cola Championship side Cardiff City are edging closer to a deal to take Willo Flood to Ninian Park in time for the big season kick-off next weekend.
The Irish under-21 star has prior experience at Championship level, having played eight times for Coventry City during a loan spell last season.
The 21-year-old Dubliner returned to City last November but spent three months out of Stuart Pearce's team after becoming the victim of a knife-wielding thug at his Manchester home last December.
He returned to action with five appearances before the end of the Premiership season, but appears set to make the move to south Wales in time for Cardiff's season kick-off against Barnsley on Saturday.
Reports from Cardiff on Tuesday morning suggest that Flood has travelled to Ninian Park to undergo a medical, with confirmation of the transfer set to be announced on Wednesday.
