Spurs manager Martin Jol is considering offering Irish international Andy Reid to Wigan Athletic in a player-plus-cash offer for Latics right back Pascal Chimbonda, according to a Monday morning newspaper report.
Reid is believed to be on the verge of leaving White Hart Lane, with Portsmouth and Sunderland interested in the 24-year-old playmaker.
And he could yet make the move to the JJB Stadium in a swap move for Wigan's star right back Chimbonda, who won a place in France's World Cup squad after a sensational first season in the Premiership.
A report in Monday's Irish Daily Mirror suggests that Reid and fellow out-of-favour midfielder Danny Murphy will be offered to Wigan as part of a deal to take Chimbonda in the other direction.
The report suggests that Jol has already seen a £3.5m offer knocked back by Wigan boss Paul Jewell, but the Dutchman hopes that the addition of a couple of international-class performers in Reid and Murphy will entice Jewell to sell.
