Australia captain Mark Viduka may have taken his last penalty while Guus Hiddink is in charge after missing his second successive spot-kick for his country in the match against Holland on Sunday.
Fortunately for Viduka and Australia, team-mate Tim Cahill slotted home an equaliser after the skipper's penalty rebounded off the crossbar and goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar. However, that was Viduka's second straight penalty failure for the Socceroos after he dragged his shot wide in the play-off shoot-out against Uruguay, and Hiddink suggested that may have been his last chance.
Asked if Viduka would take a spot-kick at the World Cup, the Dutch coach replied, "No - that is my spontaneous reaction. We'll have to think about it and talk about it," he told the Daily Telegraph. "But I'm not sure. I think my spontaneous reaction was the truth."
