Wayne Rooney insists he remains hopeful of playing for England at the World Cup.
The Manchester United striker on Wednesday night collected the Matt Busby Player Of The Year award at his club's end-of-season dinner. Voted for by United's supporters, Rooney hobbled up to the stage on crutches to collect his prize from Sir Bobby Charlton, and asked about his current status, after breaking his foot at Chelsea on Saturday, Rooney tried to remain positive.
"I'm obviously disappointed to get injured when I have done but life goes on and hopefully I can get fit," Rooney, 20, said on MUTV.
