Michael Owen believes he can benefit from having a lighter work-load in 2006 than the majority of his England team-mates as the World Cup approaches.
The Newcastle striker, 26, admits he is under-cooked in terms of the ideal number of games under his belt ahead of the finals in Germany. But Owen, who insists he is now fully fit after braking a metatarsal in December, would prefer that situation to footballing burn-out.
He said: "I prefer to have played 20 fewer than 20 games too many. I'm raring to go, I'm fit, I feel sharp in training. I'm looking at it now as a positive thing."
