Striker Ludovic Giuly is still struggling to understand his omission from the French World Cup squad one day after winning the Champions League with Barcelona.
The 29-year-old midfielder regained his place in the Barca starting line-up after an injury to Lionel Messi, and capped a successful season by lifting the prestigious trophy in a 2-1 triumph over Arsenal. However, French coach Raymond Domenech overlooked Giuly for the trip to Germany despite being a regular player in the squad since he took the reins of the national side in July 2004.
Giuly said: "This is a huge injustice. But that's life and it's part of a career. I am 30 soon and I am not far away from the end of my career. I would have liked to take part in one World Cup. But after all I have nothing to prove, everyone knows my qualities."
