England can do well without Rooney - Rio

Rio Ferdinand insists England do not fear a World Cup without Wayne Rooney.

The CT scan which will go a long way to deciding if the Manchester United striker can play in Germany was brought forward by a week to June 7 today and, even if the results are not good, Rooney's United team-mate would still back England to do well.

"I believe in the players we've got here," he told Sky Sports News. "The confidence is very high. You look at each individual and they can all bring something positive to the team."
