Emotional win for Rijkaard
Frank Rijkaard was highly emotional after going down in the history of the club and European football. Rijkaard thanked the club for being able to enjoy being European champion.
Rijkaard usually keeps his emotions to himself, and allows the players to take the limelight. But he could do nothing to hide his immense joy on Wednesday night. "It's such joy, such happiness. I'm experiencing a great moment. I feel such incredible emotion and happiness. The players have worked hard all season and I am happy for the directors."
Juliano Haus Belletti's name goes down in gold letters in the club's history. He will always be remembered as the man whose goal brought Barcelona their second European Cup and Rijkaard agreed that the Brazilian should feel especially happy tonight. "I am really pleased for him and the fact that he scored the winning goal," said FC Barcelona's Dutch manager.
He won't be going to the World Cup, but on May 17 the Cameroonian proved why he is one of the best players in the world. His goal levelled the tie and paved the way for Barcelona to win the tournament. Rijkaard said: "If the team scores two goals, and he scores one, it's very important. He did a great job, but it is the team as whole that really matters."
