Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has been ruled out for the rest of the season - including the Champions League final - after suffering a fractured dislocated ankle.
The 19-year-old suffered the devastating blow in Monday's 3-0 Barclays Premiership victory at Sunderland, whose defender Dan Smith was booked for the foul on Diaby in injury time. Arsenal confirmed that Diaby would be unavailable for the remaining two domestic fixtures against Manchester City and Wigan, plus the club's biggest ever European tie against Barcelona in Paris on May 17.
Manager Arsene Wenger was furious with Smith after the challenge on the young Frenchman, saying: "Diaby looks to have a very serious injury, and that is in my opinion a shame because it was a bad kick and an unnecessary one. It's a big blow to lose a player like that."
