It has become apparent that Terry Venables could be appointed new Middlesbrough manager. This follows the resignation of Steve McClaren, who has left to manage England following the World Cup this summer. Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson is known to be a huge admirer of the former England manager, who was brought in to The Riverside in December 2000 to help Bryan Robson stave off the threat of relegation. Already he has the backing of Mark Viduka who played under him at Leeds United.
