Arsenal goalie Jens Lehmann doesn't care about the result in Turin tonight - as long as Arsenal go through. The in-form Arsenal keeper could concede a 'hat full' to Juventus, but as long as his side progress through to the Champions League Semi-Final he is not too concerned.
The 36-year-old played in only one of this season's Group games but has been outstanding in the Knockout Stage. Arguably the most important moment of the European campaign so far came in the second half at Highbury on March 8 when he somehow batted aside an angled shot from Raul as Real Madrid poured on the pressure in search of an equaliser.
It was one of seven successive clean sheets that Lehmann and Manuel Almunia have, quite literally, had a hand in. But, on the eve of tonight's game, the German had little time for the chance of setting a new Champions League record.
"I don't have any pride about that," he said. "Obviously [the clean-sheets] give us some confidence in ourselves and our quality especially as we have had to play with different line-ups. But we just want to go on. We don't really care about the result as well, the most important thing is to go through.
"We had a good game against Juve in the first leg - but we have said many times before that we need to have two good games."
Anyone who has seen Lehmann harangue his defenders will realise that the former Milan stopper has the highest of standards. That is why he believes Champions League progression is not enough on its own. "I am not really happy because we are all used to having more success domestically," he said. "I think deep in ourselves we are a little bit angry about that because we always were up for the Premiership title, and this season for the first time in years [we were] not.
"We will have to see how we are going on in the Premiership, but the first step is this game. We have to concentrate on that, then we go on step by step."
