Cisse eyes twin targets

28 april 2006, 09:35

Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse hopes a late burst of form can secure an FA Cup final place and a spot in France's World Cup squad.

The 24-year-old has had an indifferent season at Anfield but took his tally for the campaign to 17 with both goals in Wednesday's 2-1 Barclays Premiership win over West Ham. Cisse, who started the Upton Park match in left midfield, now hopes another couple of good performances will earn him a starting slot when Liverpool meet the Hammers again at the Millennium Stadium.

Cisse said: "I was really happy with my two goals and it was important for us to get three points against a difficult West Ham side. The most important thing was to get a victory and keep fighting with Manchester United for second place."
