Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has virtually conceded goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has no future at Anfield.
With Jose Reina installed as Benitez's first-choice and impressing in his debut season, Champions League final hero Jerzy Dudek on the bench and the promising Scott Carson as back-up, a return to Liverpool is unlikely for the 24-year-old Kirkland, who injured a finger during a loan spell at West Brom.
"It is a pity he has another injury," said Benitez, whose side go to West Brom for today's evening kick-off in the Premiership having not lost against the Baggies since 1981. "We are playing well, we have a lot of clean sheets, Pepe Reina is playing well, we have Jerzy and Scott Carson is a very good young goalkeeper."
