Ball desperate for win

26 april 2006, 12:13

Kevin Ball is desperate to deliver a home win for Sunderland's fans. The Black Cats have failed to pick up a Premiership win in 17 attempts at the Stadium of Light this season. And with two games left at their home ground - against Arsenal and Fulham - time is fast running out. But if Sunderland fail to register a home win, it will not be for the lack of trying, according to caretaker boss Kevin Ball.

Sunderland's next game is against Champions League finalists Arsenal at the Stadium of Light, on Monday.

Ball said: "Of course I want to give our fans their first home win, I just want to win any game. I was annoyed on Saturday because we deserved something and got nothing. I was angry, but I felt for the players. They must think it is one thing after another. They say luck evens itself out over a season but not for Sunderland this season. No way."

Ball added: "We have plenty left to play for - pride, dignity, belief, the fans, the club, and ourselves. I desperately want to win at home for the sake of us all."
