Alan Stubbs holds the Barclays Premiership's foreign legion chiefly responsible for the diving malaise which is increasingly afflicting English football.
Veteran Everton defender Stubbs has spoken out following a Merseyside derby containing 11 yellow cards and against a broader background in which Chelsea's Ivory Coast forward Didier Drogba is acquiring perhaps the worst reputation of all. Stubbs for one is in no doubt that the current prevalence of diving and other attempts to hoodwink officials is an unwanted import.
"It is a foreign thing that has crept into our game lately," he said. "The foreign players have brought a lot of good things to the Premiership but a lot of the other side as well."
