Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer is set to make a return from a calf injury against Bolton on Saturday.
Manager Glen Roeder is hopeful that the England ace will return, as Michael Owen, Stephen Carr and Steven Taylor are all out of the clash. Kieron Dyer, Titus Bramble and Craig Moore are progressing well, but will not be included in the squad.
Newcastle are currently lying in 11th position since Roeder took charge after Graeme Souness's exit. The Magpies were very close to relegation but the former West Ham boss looks to have secured their future for the next season at least.
Meanwhile at the other end of the table, the light at the end of the tunnel is visible for Chelsea. However midfielder Frank Lampard will miss their clash with relegation strugglers West Brom due to a hamstring injury.
Lampard backed out of England's recent friendly against Uruguay because of the injury and manager Jose Mourinho says he is not fit to play for The Blues.
"He's not fit to play," said Mourinho with short, sharp words. Lampards midfield partner Joe Cole says Chelsea have the players to cope with injuries like this. "We've got players like Claude Makelele, Michael Essien and Eidur Gudjohnsen who are world-class players as well. We will have to cope," said the England hero.
