Frank Rijkaard's analysis of the game in the Da Luz stadium was short and to the point. He recognises the Barcelona players didn't take their chances bur stresses: "We mustn't look back. We have to do the job in the Nou Camp".
FC Barcelona was the better team throughout the 90 minutes but didn't get the result. Frank Rijkaard summed it up this way: "I's a shame but we mustn't look back. We didn't have luck in front of goal. The team performed well and I congratulate them though, unfortunately, we weren't able take advantage of this. I'm equally happy with my players' motivation. Usually, they score a lot of goals. We mustn't look back and have regrets. We have to continue with the same mentality to do our job in the match in the Nou Camp".
Rijkaard believes there's everything still to play for. "After this game there's nothing decided and there are no favourites. We have to prepare the return leg. We mustn't lose heart but carry on working and look ahead. In general, the team left a good impression. We mustn't forget we were playing against Benfica, a team that eliminated Liverpool. On occasions, they were dangerous".
As for the penalty claim for a possible handball by Motta, Rijkaard explained: "I dont like to analyse the referee's performance but if he didn't give a penalty I understand that it wasn't deliberate".
