The game of the day is broadcasted live from Anfield in the Merseyside derby as Liverpool face Everton.

The previous encounters have clocked up more red cards than any other Premiership match in history.

Ducan Ferguson is ready for selection again for The Blues after serving a 7-match suspension. Mikel Arteta and Gary Naysmith are also winning battles with fitness ahead of the game.

Meanwhile Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has been on the end of some abuse this week following his comments regarding Jermain Defoe's future at Tottenham.

However, Benitez wants to win today, not just to keep the heat on Manchester United, but also to reward the fans for their outstanding support this season.

"I enjoy the derby and it is a fantastic and amazing occasion, and we want to win for our supporters."

Elsewhere in the Premiership, Chelsea will be looking to overcome their last Premiership fixture, which ended in a 1-0 defeat to Fulham, by hammering Manchester City today.

City have only scored two goals in their last 7 visits to Stamford Bridge, but all could change today.

Aston Villa face Fulham, a game that Villa must win in order to keep manager David O'Leary. The good news is that Juan Pablo Angel has scored four goals in his last five Premiership games against The Cottagers.

Fulham have not won in their last five meetings with the midlands club.

Portsmouth will be hoping to continue their fine form after a 4-1 thrashing of West Ham last week. However their opponents today will be somewhat fearless. Arsenal's record-breaking striker Thierry Henry has scored eight goals in his last six against Pompey.

West Ham travel to Wigan, and are on a high after reaching the FA Cup semi-finals. But they will have to concentrate on the job in hand today, as their last Premiership fixture ended in a 4-1 defeat to struggling Portsmouth.

Jason Roberts has scored in each of Wigans last 3 meetings with The Hammers, but 66% of all goals scored by West Ham have come in the second period.

To complete Saturday's line-up, Sunderland host Blackburn Rovers. The Black Cats haven't won in 25 games and with Blackburn competing for a place in Europe next season; it doesn't look like the tables will turn today.
