Ledley King will not require knee surgery before the World Cup finals in Germany this summer.
Tottenham coach Martin Jol has confirmed that centre-half King, who has suffered with niggling groin and knee injuries this season, will be fully fit for England's campaign. There had been fears King would need to be rested before the end of the season to ensure he suffered no lasting effects from either injury but Jol insists that will not be the case.
"They said he had a minor tear in his cartilage but I had one of them and couldn't walk," said Jol. "Sometimes you have to exercise your other muscles and he has done that so well that there is no problem now. He couldn't have an operation at the end of the season anyway because he wants to go to Germany."
