Gunners relief at call-off

Arsenal were relieved to see their Premiership match at Portsmouth postponed because of a waterlogged Fratton Park pitch.

But the Pompey players were less than happy with Mike Riley's decision an hour before the scheduled kick-off. Arsene Wenger's Arsenal face Italian champions Juventus in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League at Highbury on Tuesday night so he was delighted with this opportunity to rest the lads.

Riley said: "The most important figure is the Portsmouth grounds man who said he didn't think he could clear the surface in time.
