Get behind us, Aitken tells fans

Aston Villa number two Roy Aitken has urged fans to show a positive approach as the midlands club attempt to pick up the pieces after a disastrous week in Saturday's home Barclays Premiership clash with Fulham.

Villa supporters called for the sacking of manager David O'Leary after the 4-1 drubbing at Everton - their third away reversal in the space of eight days. But Aitken is appealing for a united response against Chris Coleman's side and rubbished speculation that the Villa dressing room was "demoralised".

He said: "I am not saying everyone is as happy as larry. Nobody ever is after a defeat and we have just had three of them in a week but, as far as the overall morale of the group is concerned, that's fine. The frustration of the fans is understandable They get uptight and it can snowball a bit if things don't turn around quickly."
