Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is hoping that Steven Gerrard will learn from his mistakes, as the captain was sent off during the Merseyside derby with Everton.
Gerrard saw red after just eighteen minutes after a second caution. His first booking came after the England star kicked the ball away, and a second followed just minutes later following a rash challenge on Kevin Kilbane.
"Steven was really disappointed with himself, but really happy for the team. He is a player with a lot of passion and always plays with 100 percent commitment, but sometimes you need to use your brain as well as your heart," said manager Benitez.
The Red's manager also added words of encouragement and thanks towards the fans after Liverpool managed to come away with 3 points following a 3-1 victory.
"I must say thank you to our supporters and I am really happy for them because this was a massive win."
The result takes Liverpool above Manchester United in the table to regain the second spot behind league leaders Chelsea.
