England captain David Beckham is comfortable with fans expecting him to lead the country to World Cup glory this summer.
Sven-Goran Eriksson's squad is widely regarded as the best England have had since lifting the World Cup in 1966. But as he looked ahead to the tournament in Germany, Beckham told the Sun: "I never complain about expectations being too high. Our fans follow us all over the world and demand we produce. They want results and that's fine."
Beckham believes the fans have an important role to play in Germany, and added: "Their enthusiasm and their passion mean they can be as good as an extra player to us out there. That is how important the supporters are. To win the World Cup you need all the help you can get and you can never under-estimate the role they play."
